Getting There

There are regular flights to Hurghada airport from Gatwick & Manchester, (and increasingly from other UK airports). These links will take you to the respective charter timetable pages of the airport websites. Select the season and scroll down the airports list to find Hurghada.
By flying to a European airport it is easy to come on a different day and we can sometimes accommodate this. An alternative is to fly via Cairo on a scheduled flight and then take a local flight down to Hurghada.

1st Western Air Travel also has a useful website with flight times & prices

Hurghada airport is about 30 minutes from El Gouna You can easily arrange for a taxi to take you from Hurghada airport to El Gouna and back to the airport at the end of your stay.

UK visitors to Egypt require a British passport, valid for six months from the date of departure.
(Information correct 1st September 2007).

Getting Around El Gouna

The little open bus will pick you up from both Ocean View hotels, at the end of the marina by Maritim Restaurant, or just outside the Lagoon apartment. No vehicles are allowed on the marina, but the little open bus passes by at the rear of the Marina apartment.

All buses converge at Tamr Henna Square bus station (left)

El Gouna is also well served by tok-toks (right)

If you have ever been to Thailand, these little motorised rickshaws are like luxury limousines compared to the Bangkok tuk-tuks!

The concept is the same, the design is identical, but these are in far better condition, and the ride isn't as scary as hanging on for grim life while the driver negotiates the Bangkok traffic and pollution at breakneck speed.

One other difference ~ yes you will be taken for a ride literally, but not in the other sense, as fares are fixed at 50p per person per journey, irrespective of distance

Hiring a car is an option and scooters or bikes at El Gouna. Whilst in El Gouna you can buy a ticket for about £1.50/week/person, which allows you to use the internal El Gouna bus service, which regularly services all parts of El Gouna.

There is a little shop and a serviced and inexpensive laundry (although there is a washing machine in all three apartments) just a short stroll away from the Marina & Ocean View apartments, along with wonderful restaurants, cafes, bars, pools and two excellent dive schools.

El Gouna is a beautiful and unique international resort on the Red Sea Riviera coast.

The following write-up appeared in the November edition of the UK magazine 'Homes Overseas' -

'Impressive. The development currently stands on 19million sq. metres of land. El Gouna incorporates one well manicured 18-hole golf course with a pro-shop, cafe and fitness centre; one extremely clean and well-equipped hospital (with hyperbaric chamber); a high quality international school; 14 international-standard hotels including Club Med; and one small airport. El Gouna homes are generally well designed and well positioned; never more than a stone's throw from the water. All properties are constructed to European standards. Within El Gouna all is calm with unobtrusive security - one would hardly be aware that the development was outside Europe. There are sports and leisure facilities galore. The weather is blissful.'

Created by Samih Sawiris, El Gouna was designed throughout by world renowned architects
